PRESSURE ULCER PREVENTION 

How can you help prevent pressure ulcers?

Nursing students play an important role in making sure that patients are at reduced risk for developing pressure ulcers.

In this section you will learn the steps to help reduce the risk of patients developing pressure ulcers. 

What are pressure points?

These are spots in the body where pressure ulcers are most likely to develop.

  • Heels and ankles

  • Knees

  • Hips

  • Spine

  • Tailbone area

  • Elbows

  • Shoulders and shoulder blades

  • Back of the head

  • Ears
